    Jordan holiday highlights

Jordan offers a wide range of attractions for tourists to explore, from historical wonders to stunning natural landscapes. Here are our 10 top things to do in Jordan:

    View Of Petra Jordan

    1. Visit Petra

Petra is the most famous attraction in Jordan and a must-visit destination. Explore the ancient Nabatean city, walk through the narrow siq (canyon), and marvel at the magnificent Treasury (Al-Khazneh) carved into the rose-red cliffs.

    Jordan overview

Jordan’s history is a tale of ancient civilisations and shifting empires. The region has been inhabited for thousands of years, witnessing the rise and fall of prominent civilisations such as the Nabateans, Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans.

As a Middle Eastern country, Jordan has a culture that revolves around family values, hospitality and respect for elders. Islam plays a central role in the lives of many Jordanians, influencing their daily routines, social interactions and festivals.

Festivals and celebrations are an integral part of Jordanian culture. Holidays such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, Islamic religious festivals, are widely observed, as are Christian holidays like Christmas and Easter.

    What to eat

Jordanian cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavours influenced by the country’s history and location. Mansaf is a traditional Bedouin dish of tender lamb cooked in a fermented yogurt sauce, served over a bed of rice and topped with pine nuts and almonds and accompanied by flatbread.

Hummus and Falafel abound, and freshly cooked meat and vegetables are served alongside flatbreads and rice. And for those with a sweet tooth, you’ll be tempted by the range of Jordanian desserts, like baklava (layers of phyllo pastry with nuts and honey syrup), knafeh (sweet cheese pastry), and atayef (stuffed pancakes).
